Dendrological parks

December 18, 2016
Dendrological parks of Ukraine — the zone of cultivation of various plant species, often rare and exotic. Next for creating beautiful ornamental structures, sculptures, artificial lakes, sometimes even simulates the masterpieces of world architecture.

So we brought such parks have been decades or centuries of hard work. And most importantly — put in a great love of nature and artistic enthusiasm of the gardeners, foresters, sculptors...

In our country there are many arboreta. Some of them have a history of 200 years and belong to the oldest in Europe — founded in the last decade and only supplemented and developed. And most of them require more attention than they have now. Rehabilitation, reconstruction, or just a caring attitude of people waiting for dozens of protected parks, the beauty of which is often so stupid exploited us.
Sofiyivka

The city of Uman, Cherkasy region. Area — 179,2 hectares.

This is really the greatest parks of our country and one of the most beautiful in the world. He was named after the wife of Stanislaw Potocki Sofia. Now in his honor called the space asteroid, and even dedicated a poem (Polish writer S. trembecki was).

Once here, you will visit like in ancient Greece or Rome. The Park is very beautiful and rich: there are fountains, ponds and waterfalls, and lake, and the rocks and statues of Roman gods.
A monument of landscape gardening art of the end XVIII — first half XIX centuries is of global significance. This is confirmed by numerous medals, diplomas and awards.

Mainly decorated with antique sculptures. On the whole, the composition of the Park was conceived by author-architect as live replay of the described constructions and other elements from parts of the "Iliad" and "Odyssey" of Homer.
The main gate is built like the entrance to the Athenian market, and the details that complete the watchtower, taken from the temple of the goddess Vesta in Italy. Towers that adorn the main entrance is preserved to our time since the mid-nineteenth century.

castles of Norway

December 16, 2016
Norway’s severe and poetic beauty made famous by Scandinavian sagas was reflected in the laconic and majestic architecture of old Norwegian castles and strongholds which became a real symbol of the bravery and fierce spirit of this northern nation. Akershus Fortress is the best known fortification in Norway. It had protected both Oslofjorden Bay and the roads running to the capital against enemies for many centuries. Although this vast fortress complex is now a popular tourist facility with a number of museum displays, it has not lost its important defensive function, the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence and Norway’s Defence Staff are located behind its walls. However, not only Akershus Fortress reminds of Norway’s heroic past, but also Kristiansten Fortress which saved the city of Trondheim many times during a war with Sweden. The elegant Oscarshall Castle (Oscarshall Slott), erected in the 19th century on a steep slope of Bygdøy, became not only a real gem of the peninsula, but also proof that even in severe Norway one can find splendid examples of neo-Gothic buildings.

Brazil travel

December 16, 2016
From the jungle calls of the Amazon to the thong-clad crowds of Copacabana beach, Brazil is an intoxicating mix of the big, the bold and the beautiful, perennially one of the world’s favourite destinations.
Brazil travel

It’s also one of the largest countries on the planet, with an awesome array of treasures to match. Its vast coastline is fringed with soft sands and island getaways; the Amazon Basin teems with an unrivalled mass of flora and fauna; and the wetlands of the Pantanal, the largest on Earth, support a staggering diversity of wildlife.
And then there’s the Iguaçu Falls, an unforgettable natural spectacle featuring hundreds of waterfalls, which cascade from the tropical rainforest as blue morpho butterflies flit through the spray.
Undoubtedly the greatest draw, however, are the Brazilians themselves; probably the most hedonistic people on earth. Whether it’s Rio’s effervescent Cariocas going overboard at Carnival, or São Paulo’s sultry citizens gyrating in chic nightclubs, Brazilians love having fun.
Their irrepressible joie de vivre finds its best outlet through music and dance. Samba, lambada and bossa nova are Brazil’s best-known musical exports, but visitors can also discover a plethora of other genres, from the Northeast’s forró to the punchy bass of baile funk coming out of Rio’s favelas.
Adrenaline junkies can go wild in Brazil; shooting the big surf of Santa Catarina; bouncing in beach buggies over the sand dunes of northern Natal; snorkeling in Fernando de Noronha National Park; or abseiling in the Chapada Diamantina National Park.
Or you can take life easy and let Brazil come to you by lolling in a hammock on an Amazonian ferry, looking out for the occasional macaw, or browsing the backstreets of colonial towns such as Ouro Preto and Paraty, which are lined with architectural monuments and chic boutique hotels.
Whatever you’re looking for, rest assured, Brazil has it in spades.
The Pantanal – These are the largest wetlands in the world, located in the west, stretching into parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. As can be expected, the Pantanal is a wildlife watcher’s dream come true. Over 11,000 species of animal live in the wetlands, from the rare Marsh Deer to the Giant Anteater and the Hyacinth Macaw.
Iguacu Fall – Known as ‘Iguazu Falls’ to the Argentines, these magnificent waterfalls lie across the border from Argentina and are a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The falls are higher than and twice as wide as Niagra Falls and one of the country’s best natural wonders. 450,000 cubic feet of water thunder down the 275 cascades every second.
Amazonia National Park – The Amazon covers 8% of the earth’s surface but is home to 50% of its biodiversity. The Amazonia National Park is almost 40% of the nation’s landmass and perfect for birdwatching, trekking, and kayaking. There are many points of entry, chances to go hiking, camping, and river tours. No trip to Brazil is complete without seeing the Amazon.
Salvador – Visit Brazil’s first city and cultural capital, Salvador on the country’s north east coast. Also known as the ‘capital of happiness’, visitors enjoy the city’s easy going atmosphere and colonial architecture. The colonial center of Perlourinho was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
Sao Paulo – Sao Paulo is the third largest city in the world and the largest in South America, home to over 17 million people. Visitors to this expansive city can enjoy world class nightlife, music and cuisine. While it lacks the charm of Rio, I still like it.
Recife – Recife is home to some of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches and is the second largest city on the country’s northeastern coast. The city’s historical center is extremely beautiful with dozens of restaurants and quaint establishments. Head to nearby Olinda, a colonial city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982.
Manaus Opera House  The Amazon theatre is located in the heart of Manaus. Built in 1896, it strongly reflects the Italian Renaissance influence from the time. It has been featured in several movies.
Try Dancing Capoeira  This Afro-Brazilian martial art is a “war dance” practiced and performed by thousands of people throughout the country. If you aren’t too embarrassed to try it out, it’s a memorable experience for everyone involved.
The Manaus Municipal Market – Located in Manaus, this building is right on the bank of the Rio Negro and covers 12,000 square meters. Many locals come here for their daily shopping. You can find almost anything you can imagine—fish, caimans, turtles, fruit, wine, and knick-knacks.

Las vegas

December 16, 2016
The first reported visit to the valley by someone of European descent was Raphael Rivera in 1829. Las Vegas was named by Spaniards in the Antonio Armijo party, who used the water in the area while heading north and west along the Old Spanish Trail from Texas. In the 19th century, areas of the Las Vegas Valley containedartesian wells that supported extensive green areas or meadows (vegas in Spanish), hence the name Las Vegas.
John C. Frémont traveled into the Las Vegas Valley on May 3, 1844, while it was still part of Mexico. He was a leader of a group of scientists, scouts and observers for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. On May 10, 1855, following annexation by the US, Brigham Young assigned 30 missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints led by William Bringhurst to the area to convert the Paiute Indian population toMormonism. A fort was built near the current downtown area, serving as a stopover for travelers along the "Mormon Corridor" between Salt Lake and the briefly thriving colony of saints at San Bernardino, California. However, during the Utah War, Mormons abandoned Las Vegas in 1857. Las Vegas was established as arailroad town on May 15, 1905, when 110 acres (44.5 ha) owned by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad, was auctioned off in what is now downtown Las Vegas. Among the railroad's most notable owners and directors were Montana Senator William A. Clark, Utah U.S. Senator Thomas Kearns and R.C. Kerens ofSt. Louis. Las Vegas was part of Lincoln County until 1908 when it became part of the newly established Clark County. The St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church near 4th and Bridger in downtown was founded in 1910. Las Vegas became an incorporated city on March 16, 1911 and Peter Buol was the first mayor.
Las Vegas started as a stopover on the pioneer trails to the west, and became a popular railroad town in the early 20th century. It was a staging point for all the mines in the surrounding area, especially those around the town of Bullfrog, that shipped their goods out to the rest of the country. With the proliferation of the railroads, Las Vegas became less important but the completion of the nearby Hoover Dam in 1935 resulted in the growth of residents and tourism. The dam, located 30 mi (48 km) southeast of the city, also formed Lake Mead, the US's largest man-made lake and reservoir. Today, tours are offered into lesser known parts of the dam. The legalization of gambling in 1931 led to the advent of the casino-hotels, for which Las Vegas is famous. Major development occurred in the 1940s. The success of the city's early casino businesses was owed to American organized crime. Most of the original large casinos were managed or at least funded under mob figuresBenjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, Meyer Lansky or other mob figures at this time. The rapid growth of this gambling empire is credited with dooming Galveston, Texas; Hot Springs, Arkansas; and other major gaming centers in the 1950s.
With the arrival in the late 1960s of businessman Howard Hughes, who purchased many casino-hotels, as well as television and radio stations in the city, legitimate corporations began to purchase casino-hotels as well, and the mob was run out by the federal government over the next several years. The constant stream of tourist dollars from the hotels and casinos was also augmented by a new source of federal money. This money came from the establishment of what is now Nellis Air Force Base. The influx of military personnel and casino job-hunters helped start a land building boom which, as of today, has leveled off a bit.
Though Las Vegas's gambling revenues have been surpassed by Macau, the Las Vegas area remains one of the world's top entertainment destinations.

Canary Islands

October 19, 2016
The Canary Islands are located about 1000 kilometers south of Spain, and only 115 kilometers from the African coast. The average temperature on the Canary Islands is 22 degrees Celsius on the coasts, and there are no significant differences in the temperatures between night and day. In winter, it is rarely colder than 19 degrees Celsius. During the summer months is almost never more than 25 degrees on the Canary Islands: Compare with the Spanish mainland where the temperatures in summer approaches 40 degrees Celsius. That makes the Canary Islands a perfect holiday destination in summer even if most of us only has the Canary Islands in mind as a winter destination.
Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are already a classic holiday destination for Britons, Germans, Scandinavians and other Europeans, but the truth is that even the Spaniards travels a lot to the warm and sunny Canary Islands. For years the Canary Islands have been the classic honeymoon destination for just married Spanish couples. That until Asia and the Caribbean became popular and affordable destinations from Spain just a few years ago.
Although there are many Spaniards living on the Happy Islands. That is the name that the Canary Islands receives in Spain.
Those who travel once to the Canary Islands and then believe that they know everything about Spain are quite wrong: For most Spaniards the Canary Islands are just as exotic as to other foreigners.

Around 8 million tourists travels to the beautiful Canary Islands every year. The fact that almost half of them already have visited the Canary Islands earlier means al lot, if you once visit the islands you always want to return! The tropical climate on the Canary Islands and the 150 kilometers of sunny coasts and beaches must have something to do with that.

The Canary Islands are something like an European version of the popular Caribbean holiday destinations: The music, the accent, the people's attitude, the lifestyle, the climate, the famous carnival and so much more resembles more the life in Caribbean countries than in other places in
Spain.
The Canaries is the only Ultra-Peripheral Region of Spain. It offers its visitors a land of contrasts and an area of cultural encounters. A wide and dynamic range of leisure, culture, sport and conference facilities is also available. The official currency is the Euro. The Canarian archipelago lies about 100 kilometers off the western African coast. It consists of seven islands: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro.

The Canary Islands are volcanic in origin. The Canaries is part of the natural region of Macaronesia, along with the archipelagoes of Cape Verde, the Azores, Madeira and Salvajes. The status of capital city is shared by Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There is a modern and efficient network of travel infrastructures on the islands: Eight airports (six of them international airports), many commercial and recreational ports and an extensive network of roads. The Canaries receives more than 10 million tourists annually. The climate is typical of subtropical ocean regions, with warm temperatures all year round. The average yearly temperature is over 20 degrees centigrade. This enviable climate means the archipelago enjoys great biological diversity and remarkable richness in terms of landscape.
Local food on tha Canaries is very varied and tasty. One of its most distinctive ingredients is gofio, that is, roasted maize meal, which is used in a variety of recipes and prepared in different ways. Also worthy of interest are the local small salted “wrinkly” potatoes, cooked in their skins (papas arrugadas), the spicy sauce (mojo picón), the Canarian stew, made with salted fish and yam (sancocho), the watercress-based thick soup (potaje de berros), the vegetable, chickpea and meat stew (puchero), another traditional stew made with meat and pasta (rancho), and finally ropa vieja, a mixture of chickpeas, potatoes, meat and vegetables in a delicious sauce.

Bermuda

Bermuda

If island destination is what you are looking for, perhaps you need to look no further than this nature's jewel. Bermuda is a cluster of islands on the north Atlantic with a total area of about 21 square miles. Several islands are joined to the main island with bridges. Being a sub tropical island, the weather is pleasantly warm for most time of the year (April to November) and people are even warmer.
There are many stunning beaches in the island and some with lovely pink sandy beaches. Snorkeling is excellent from several beaches while nearby reefs offer views of amazing corals and marine life. And there are lovely caves with awesome limestone formations and natural lakes, aquarium, numerous historical sites, museums, churches, historical forts and even nature reserves and parks.
One of the most popular and photographed of Bermuda’s pink-sand beaches is Horseshoe Bay Beach, which is bordered by rocky areas great for snorkeling. A lifeguard is on duty here from May to September, making this a good choice for families. Tiny Jobson’s Bay Beach is surrounded by jagged, picturesque rocks. Warwick Long Bay boasts Bermuda’s longest stretch of sand, and at West Whale Bay Beach you can see humpback whales in April as they migrate north. If you’re in search of seclusion, head to Astwood Cove.

Bermuda Hotels and Resorts
You’ll find a few different types of accommodations in Bermuda: B&Bs; efficiency units, including cottages, suites and apartments that come with kitchen facilities and are good options for families; small hotels; and resorts that offer fine restaurants, spas, pools and more. Another more unusual option is Bermuda’s collection of cottage colonies, a series of cottages with a central clubhouse for socializing, drinking and dining, plus a pool or beach. Luxury accommodations abound; finding bargains is more of a challenge.
Bermuda Restaurants and Cuisine
The most famous local dish is fish chowder served with a splash of Sherry Pepper sauce. Other traditional dishes include Peas and Plenty (black-eyed peas with onions, salt pork and rice) and Hoppin’ John, another pea and rice dish, which should not be confused with Johnny Bread, which is pan-cooked cornmeal bread. However, you also can find restaurants serving everything from curries to pasta. In addition to restaurants in resort hotels, there are large concentrations of eateries in Hamilton and St. George Town. Wash meals down with a Dark and Stormy, a mix of ginger beer and local Gosling's rum.
Bermuda Culture and History
Settled by the English in 1609, Bermuda became a self-governing colony in 1620. West Indian indentured servants, then slaves from Africa, later arrived. Slavery was abolished in 1834. After the American Revolution, the Royal Navy built a dockyard in Bermuda to guard its Atlantic shipping lanes. In the early twentieth century, Bermuda became a popular destination for rich tourists. Bermuda’s British heritage is found in its architecture; African influences are mainfest in dance and music, especially the Gombeys dancing and drumming troupes.
Bermuda Nightlife
As a general rule, nightlife is not big on Bermuda. Since rental cars are not allowed on the island, many visitors prefer to hang out in their hotel lounges and bars rather than travel via scooter (or take an expensive taxi) at night. However, Hamilton has a number of fun bars, including Hubie’s, which showcases local musical talent. The island also is known for its collection of authentic English pubs, such as the Frog and Onion, Henry VIII, and the George and Dragon.
Although the island is tiny, it offers numerous water and land based activities. You have choices like golfing in some of the word's best courses, horseback riding, kayaking, snorkeling, jet skiing, parasailing, paddle boarding, fishing and lot more. It's a paradise for scuba divers to explore shipwrecks around.

And there are many operators who offer guided tours - both land based and boating tours. Such tours operate both on groups (on per person rates) as well as on private charters.

Hamilton City located centrally is the capital of Bermuda. St. George at the eastern end and close to the airport is a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped with history. And Royal Naval Dockyard at the west end is the main cruise port. Most shops, restaurants and bars are located at these places.

Bermuda never looks crowded. There are no billboards or neon signs, and relatively few cars to spoil the wonderful countryside. The houses with gabled limestone roofs and pastel colors fit in beautifully into Bermuda's landscape. You can get around the island using air-conditioned public buses and ferries. Privately operated taxis and minibuses are also popular transports in the island.

There are to nearly 100 different tribes and, because of lack of a properly developed tourism system, the rich culture of Ethiopia can easily be explored and understood by the visitors.

Ethiopia has four main geographic regions from west to east namely as the Ethiopian Plateau, the Great Rift Valley, the Ogaden Plateau and the Somali Plateau. The Ethiopian Plateau is fringed in the west by the Sudan lowlands , including half of the country. It is generally 1,524 to1,829 m high but reaches much loftier heights, including Ras Dashen (4,620 m) which is the highest point in Ethiopia. The plateau slopes gently from east to west and is being cut by numerous deep valleys. The Blue Nile which in Ethiopia is called the Abbai or Abbay, flows through the center of the plateau from its source, Lake Tana which is Ethiopia's largest lake.
The Great Rift Valley ,which entirety runs from southwest Asia to eastern central Africa traverses the country from northeast to southwest and contains the Danakil Desert in the north and several large lakes in the south of the ountry. The Somali Plateau is generally not as high as the Ethiopian Plateau, but in the Mendebo Mts. it attains heights of more than 4,267 m. The Awash is Ethiopia's only navigable river and it drains the central part of the plateau. The Ogaden Plateau (457 to914 m high) is mostly desert it self but it does includes the Webe Shebele, Genale (Jubba), and Dawa rivers.
Ethiopia's population is mainly rural as most people in highlands above 1,800 m. Almost half of the people are Muslims, while over a third belong to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; about 12% practice traditional religions. There are a great number of distinct ethnic groups in Ethiopia. The Amhara and Tigreyans, who together make up about a third of the population, live mostly in the central and N Ethiopian Plateau; they are Christian and hold most of the higher positions in the government. The Oromo, who make up about 40% of the country's people, live in S Ethiopia and are predominantly Muslim. The pastoral Somali, who are also Muslim, live in E and SE Ethiopia.
Until the 1980s a small group of Jews, known as Beta Israel or Falashas, lived north of Lake Tana in Gondar. In the midst of famine and political instability, 10,000 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted (1984–85) to Israel, and another 14,000 were airlifted out in 1991. By the end of 1999 virtually all the Falashas who were practicing Jews had been flown to Israel.
Amharic is the country's official language, but a great many other languages are spoken, including Tigrinya, Oromo, Somali, and Arabic. A substantial number of Ethiopians speak English, which is commonly taught in school. The natural beauty of Ethiopia does amaze the visitor at the first glance. The land of rugged mountains, broad savannah, lakes and rivers. The unique Rift Valley is a remarkable region of volcanic lakes along with their famous collections of birdlife, great escarpments and stunning vistas.

Tisisat, the Blue Nile falls, is ranked as one of the greatest natural spectacles in Africa even today. With 14 major wildlife reserves, Ethiopia provides a mini view of the whole Sahara ecosystem. Birdlife abounds, and indigenous animals from the rare Walia Ibex to the shy wild ass, roam free just as nature intends them to. Ethiopia, after the rains, is a land decked with flowers and with many more native plants than most countries in Africa. Among the many natural tourist attractions only the principal ones are briefly given below.
